"Reinforcement Will Arrive Tomorrow" Producer Interview

Saw an interview of the producer of the movie "Reinforcements will arrive tomorrow" that YY was also in.

The producer said it was difficult making every movie. But the most difficult one was this one "Reinforcements will arrive tomorrow" (sorry for my poor English translation of the title). The lady asked why he must make this movie? The producer said "I've wanted to make this movie since I was little. Not only did I think so, but seniors from Hengyang (the city the movie is about) also kept tell me that I should make this particular battle into a movie. At the end, let me say something that's not even an exagguration, it's the common wish of all 8-million Hengyang people's." Then he said that they just cut a 10-min preview. They can watch it now at his home (the interview took place at his home). So, they watched. The few short lines shown in the preview were probably the commander talking to the soldiers. "Please endure the last pain. Fight till the last moment! Fight for Hengyang! Die for Hengyang! Fight for the dignity of Chinese people! Die for the dignity of Chinese people!"

And here's a longer video of the interview.

In this longer interview, the producer also said: "I was born and raised in Hengyang. Nobody else had the same experience (I've been through) and feelings. People younger than him know nothing at all about this battle. People older than him all passed away. If I don't make this movie, it will never be made in the future (this story will never be told)." He continued to say: "It's a feeling of nobody else but me! I know it's a daunting/impossible task, but I still want to do it. I don't ask if it's possible, but I ask if it's something I SHOULD do." Then, they went to visit a shrine that honors all soldiers sacrificed during the battle. He talked a bit about the history. I am not going to go into details here, but battles and wars are always very very sad... alas...

Here are some screen captures of the preview video from this longer video. The text in the preview video itself tells the story more or less. So, let me translate them here.

In 1994, in order to get out of the trouble in the Pacific battlefield, in order to open up the transportation/supply route/line through the mainland from the northeast part of China to Vietnam, Japanese military launched the largest offense on the Chinese battlefield since the invasion of China.

6/22
110,000 Japanese soldiers gathered at the entrance to Hengyang city.

Commander of the 10th National Army, Fan Xianjue led 17,000 soldiers and 3,000 Hengyang civilian soldiers fought hard with their blood.

Held fast in Hengyang for 47 days.
Severely injured more than 80,000 Japanese soldiers.
It could be called a miracle in the history of the War of Resistance Against Japan.

The Battle of Hengyang was the most brutal urban attack/defense battle and a battle that the Chinese army engaged in for the longest time, that resulted in the highest number of casualties between both sides in the entire history of the War of Resistance Against Japan.

----- The End ------

Alas....

I don't usually like such kind of movie, because I don't want people to always remember the pain and hatred. Not that those should be forgotten, but I hope what move human race forward are positive things. Wars/battles are lessons learned from the history. It's important to remember them and learn from them, but I hope we can see how terrible wars are and learn to never repeat that. I hope we learn to communicate better with others with respect and compassion whenever there are conflicts. I know it's hard (and hence there are still wars going on around the world😭😭😭), but we should all try our best to bring love and peace to this world💗
