Although he is orderly in doing things, when faced with challenges, he'd always rise to face the difficulties.

这次拍摄位于北京郊野房山的一处民宿。一早拍摄赶路时，便有些小插曲，杨洋坐的车在半路爆了胎，司机去4S店换胎费了番周折，再辗转近三小时车程一路开至山里。下了车，杨洋便觉得心情舒畅。山野之阔，目之所及皆是苍翠群山，阳光洒在山坡上，呈现黄绿和深绿相间的褶皱肌理，空气里有了初秋的旷净。

The shooting this time took place at a homestay (bed and breakfast/B&B) in Fangshan Mountain, a suburb of Beijing. There were some minor incidents on the way to shoot in the morning. The tire of the car Yang Yang was riding in burst halfway. The driver went through the trouble of getting new tires at an auto shop and drove nearly three hours all the way to the mountains. After getting off the car, Yang Yang felt relaxed. Out in the mountains, everything felt open and wide; what came into view were the green mountains. The sun shone on the hills, showing a wrinkled texture of yellow-green and dark green. The air had the cleanliness of early autumn.

The Road to Immortality in the Mountains

天宽地阔的外景地，常会给杨洋带来一些触动。他广受瞩目的新作《凡人修仙传》在新疆、贵州取景，流连广袤的草原、壮阔的沙漠和飞流而下的瀑布，置身其中，看云即是仙。

The shooting locations at the broad and wide outdoors often stirred up Yang Yang's feelings. His highly anticipated new drama "The Immortal Ascension" was shot in Xinjiang and Guizhou; they wandered through vast grasslands, magnificent deserts, and cascading waterfalls. Just being there, just watching the clouds made one felt like an immortal.

去年9月，杨洋来到新疆伊犁的那拉提草原。进入伊犁河谷，绿茸茸的草地像一张绵延到天边的毯子，上面点缀着深绿色的松林和星星点点的棕色牛群。最让他难忘的是山地森林草场，有山，有林，有草地和小溪，远处是白雪覆盖的天山，头顶是涌起的云团。

Last September, Yang Yang came to the Nalati Grassland in Yili, Xinjiang. Entering the Yili River Valley, the green and lush grassland was like a blanket stretching to the horizon, decorated with dark green pine forests and dotted with brown cattle. 因为拍戏，杨洋在奇情的世界里体会到许多滋味，与我们讲起时也绘声绘色：克拉玛依的魔鬼城，目之所及都是戈壁滩，鬼斧神工的雅丹地貌有着无尽的苍凉悠远和雄浑空旷。待10月离开新疆时，天气开始转凉，杨洋便开始怀念起新疆的羊肉烩饭来。

Because of filming, Yang Yang experienced many feelings in the fantasy world, and when he described to us, he made it sound so vivid: at the Karamay's Ghost City, the Gobi Desert stretched as far as the eye could see; at the Yadan landforms, as if hand carved by the mother nature, he felt endless desolation, remoteness, and majestic emptiness. When he left Xinjiang in October, the weather began to turn cooler, and Yang Yang began to miss Xinjiang's mutton risotto.

因为拍摄紧凑、强度高，他几乎每天都在吊威亚，有近一个月的夜戏基本要拍到凌晨两三点。杨洋说他那时每天都在大口炫饭，在高强度工作下，“得先让自己吃饱，保持体力和状态”。

Because the shooting schedule was tight and intense - he was hanging on wires almost every day for wire action scenes, and for nearly a month, the night scenes had to be shot until 2 or 3 in the morning - Yang Yang said that he ate a lot every day at that time. Under the high-intensity work situation, "I had to feed myself well first to maintain my physical strength and condition.”

"The Immortal Ascension(凡人修仙传)" was adapted from the novel of the same name. Han Li, played by Yang Yang, was a poor boy of ordinary origin. By chance, he entered a small sect in the martial arts world. After going through hardships, he finally cultivated to become an immortal. What attracted Yang Yang was the character of Han Li himself. When Han Li met his first master, Doctor Mo, his desire to see the outside world was provoked by a letter Mo crafted, though Mo's intention was to take Han Li's life for personal gain. Han Li since embarked on the path of immortal cultivation. Along the way, he explored, traded, negotiated, strategized... In the world of immortal cultivation full of traps, deceits, and the law of the jungle, Han Li took cautious and steady steps in pursuing the longevity he longed for. "He is a very stable person with a high adversity quotient. There are many things I can learn from him. There are all kinds of people around each of us, but, in the end, I think one still has to know what he is insisting on and what his goal is.”

对于这部创作了五个月的作品，杨洋的期待很直接，“我肯定希望大家看到后能觉得是好看的。作为付出的人，我一定是想有这样的结果，这是我的一点点贪心”。

Yang Yang’s expectations for this work, which took five months to create, is very straightforward. “I definitely hope that everyone will like the drama. As someone who devoted a lot of effort into it, I definitely want to have such a result. This is just a little bit of greed on my part.”

He grew up in Shanghai and in a happy family. When he was young, his parents would accompany him to whatever after school hobby lessons he wanted to take. When Yang Yang got off the lessons, his parents would take him to enjoy a big meal. At the age of 12, Yang Yang went to the PLA Art Academy. It was very tough there. He called home, and his father rushed from Shanghai to Beijing to visit him at school with delicious food. "The PLA Art Academy is a place with military management and strict discipline. Because of this, I grow up with less interaction with the society/outer world to some extent, such as developing hobbies. So, I might appear a little more serious." Yang Yang has always been considered to be upright, polite, and wrapped in perfectionism.

“我从小上军校，每个人都是非常独立的。当年要上军校，是我自己非常坚决要去，可能也跟我小时候的性格有关，加上后来学校对我的培养，因此我现在的性格，会是一个比较有秩序的人，会提前把事情尽量都规划好。”军艺的故事杨洋其实聊过很多，那确实是他性格定型中绕不开的经历，也使他最后一路转型成为影视演员、收获全民关注度，显得尤为惊喜。他记得刚成为演员时，对任何事物都觉得很新鲜。二十岁时的他迫切希望自己成熟起来，更加沉稳。到了被他认作职业生涯重要节点的2015年，电影《左耳》、综艺《花儿与少年》、影视剧《旋风少女》《盗墓笔记》等等接踵，使他走红、拥有了高人气，他一方面“开心，但那个时候其实不懂，会觉得每天睡不够”，一方面想让自己更谨慎，少出错。

"I went to military school since I was little, and everyone in school was very independent. It was me who insisted to go to the military school back then. Maybe it has something to do with my personality when I was young, plus the training I received in school later on, I am, now, a person who prefers order and would try to plan everything out in advance." Yang Yang has actually talked about the story of the military art school a lot before. It is indeed an experience that cannot be ignored in the formation of his personality, and it also made his transformation into a film and television actor and gaining the attention of the whole nation especially surprising. He remembered that when he first became an actor, everything was fresh and new to him. At the age of 20, he was eager to become more mature and more stable. In 2015, which was considered an important turning point in his career, the movie "Left Ear", the variety show "Divas hit the road", the TV series "Whirlwind Girl" and "The lost tomb" followed one after another, making him popular with huge number of supporters. On the one hand, he was "happy, but at that time I actually didn't understand, and I felt that I didn't get enough sleep every day", and on the other hand, he wanted himself to have more discretion and make fewer mistakes.

Yang Yang is very strict in how he displays himself to the outside world. This time, he told us about the fact that it took at least two hours everyday for hair and makeup when acting in a costume drama. We jokingly asked if he would worried about receding hairline because of this. He subconsciously touched his hair and said, "Is it because you saw my hair and thought..." He hopes to always present a standard and positive appearance on the stage.

对作品也是。这几年他开始出演更有职业魅力的角色：电竞选手、特种兵、航天设计师等。“我不喜欢被困在某一种类型里，我还是想挑战的，尽全力演好每一个角色是我的愿望。”

The same is true for his works. In recent years, he has begun to play more roles with professional charm: e-sports players, special forces soldiers, aerospace designers, etc. "I don't like to be trapped in a certain type. I still want to challenge myself, and my wish is to do my best to play every role well.”

下一个挑战，或许是在正午阳光的古装剧《雨霖铃》里出演经典角色展昭。两年前他参加综艺《青春环游记3》时，曾经COS过展昭，一身红衣，剑眉星目。这次得知能饰演展昭后，他意外又开心。“（参加综艺时）我也没想到在一两年之后会有个展昭的角色找到我，很有缘分。”

The next challenge might be to play the classic role of Zhan Zhao in the costume drama "Zhan Zhao Adventures" produced by Daylight Entertainment. 杨洋是一个有秩序的、喜欢规划清晰的人。这几年拍戏的节奏基本是一年一部电视剧，偶尔再拍部电影。“我还是要给自己一些时间，想有更多时间陪伴家人。”他是那种做了决定便不太会改变或者被轻易说服的人，但这次看到他，还是觉得有些地方不一样了点。

Yang Yang is a person who likes order and clear plans. The rhythm these years was basically shooting one TV drama per year, and occasionally adding a movie. "I still need to give myself some time, and I want to spend more time with my family." He is the kind of person who will not change his mind or be easily persuaded once he has made a decision. But seeing him again this time, there were something that felt a little different.

比如，他似乎更能分享一些私下生动的片刻了。翻开他的微博，日常记录多了起来。有出门看展，有虽然错过三星堆、大熊猫，索性在成都街头闲逛，还有在路上看到大家都在拍美丽的晚霞，他也跟着加入拍了起来……能感受到他是在好好生活，也能感知生活的。

For example, he seems to be more able to share some vivid moments from his private life. Looking through his Weibo, posts that recorded his daily life increased. There were posts when he went to see exhibitions. And there was another time when he missed the chance to visit Sanxingdui (archaeology site) and the giant pandas, so he simply wandered around the streets of Chengdu instead. 他聊了养生经验，自己网购了小悬灸，参考说明书，还去翻网上的攻略。各个穴位的针灸作用，什么风池穴清热醒脑还辅助治感冒、常按足三里穴调理脾胃、缓解腰酸背痛找涌泉穴……

He talked about his health-preserving/maintaining experience; he bought a small suspension moxibustion tube pot on the internet, referred to the instructions, and looked up online guides. He shared the acupuncture effects of various acupoints, such as Fengchi acupoint clears away heat, refreshes the brain, and helps treating colds. Pressing the Zusanli acupoint regularly helps regulate the spleen and stomach. And Yongquan acupoint relieves lower back pain…

He also described the joy of playing badminton to us. It is the kind of joy that secrets dopamine. After the exercise, one feels completely relaxed, and the mind is clearer.

我们更重提了他在很多次采访中都有的那个“梗”——将来想养条狗，“现在到底养成了吗？”

We also brought up an "old topic" he had mentioned in many interviews - he wanted to have a dog in the future, and asked, "Have you adopted one yet?”

“已经开始准备了。”可是，也准备太久了呀。他自己都笑了，“就一直都在准备着。和狗狗也是一个缘分，有缘分后自然而然就进入家了。我觉得养狗很不一样，是要付出非常多的精力，你得陪伴它”。
