Yang Yang: Arrive with the current | Shang Cheng Shi: Scenery and Things during the trip 020
(prologue)
At the end of summer in Beijing, the scorching high heat was often disrupted by the storm that came suddenly; the refreshing scent/breathe/air cooled down a great part of the heat. This summer, YY had more time to embrace nature and feel himself. After a round of resting and relaxing, he brought peace and ease, situating himself in the environment surrounded by green, as if entering a lazy and joyful long vacation instantly.
In the past 10+ years since his debut, YY has always been walking on his own path with steady pace, not too fast yet not too slow. "Stable" has always been YY's base color.
Now, "Zhan Zhao's Adventure" is about to crank in, YY has also started preparing for his role as Zhan Zhao, "Recently, I've been maintaining healthy and regular schedule of going to sleep early and waking up early, adjusting my body condition, reading the script and related novels, all in preparation to join the drama group.
He used three adjectives to describe himself at this moment: healthy, simple, and taking it slow.

Summer
When shooting TIA, YY went to Xin Jiang with the drama group to film in the real set in nature. He saw steep and amazing canyons, lakes with lush vegetation, and the vast and magnificent grassland in the sky, "Being in the real scenery set located in Karamay and Nalati Grassland, nature's magnificent and amazement got magnified infinitely. I felt even more deeply the beautiful of life." YY still remembered this vividly.
As his project came to an end, YY returned to his personal life. After experiencing the beauty of Xin Jiang, he became more passionate about nature. This year, camping got added to YY's schedule. Just like anybody who enjoys camping, he also put on his backpack and went to see the tress and flowers and breath in the fresh air in the mountains or by the riverbank. Then, he set up the tent with his own hands and played games and BBQ'ed with his friends. "At first, I was not good at telling whether the meat skewers were cooked through or not. I tried repeatedly to study how to control the fire/heat." He laughed and said.
From setting up the tent to BBQ, to YY, everything was a new experience and learning lesson. "I really enjoyed the feeling of immersing myself in the nature. It felt really comfortable." Even if there were unexpected situations midway, he never complained, and, on the contrary, he considered those as adventures during the trip. "Camping itself involves a lot of unexpected situation, such as weather changes like a sudden rain, for example. Everything was interesting."
In summer, sometimes it's scorching hot, and sometimes it rains cats and dogs. In YY's view, summer is a season full of sudden changes and colorful faces. "It feels like many new and energetic activities start from summer."
YY spent many of his previous summers busy working in the drama group. However, this year, he had an entire summer for himself. He watched the Olympics games with his family and cheered for the Chinese athletes. During his leisure time, he would go take a walk in the streets and tried some delicious food. All these moments filled him with vigorous vitality (All these moments made him feel fool of energy). "Sometimes we ignored those simple thing sand minor happy feelings, but these moments are, in fact, even more precious and worth feeling deeply, making yourself grow and nurture better inward and accumulate more energy."
Compared to the past, YY also started to share these happy moments on SNS. He cruised in the Shanghai streets at night, sitting in a small shop by the street, observing the people passing by; he walked around Beijing at dusk and recorded the beautiful sunset by the tall buildings; he even went to the zoo, wearing a cute tiger hat and said hi to the real tiger on the other side of the window. He said: "When there's an opportunity next time, I also want to visit the botanical garden again."
A while ago, YY took his family and friends on a trip, "We ate and chatted together, walked around without much reservation/concern. It was very relaxing. It seems like I was caught on camera eating an ice cream." YY laughed when talking about this. YY in real life never overly hid himself (from the public) and did not mind being recognized by people when he was out and about. YY, caught on the passerby's camera, wore a simple, wide T-shirt, looked relaxed and free, holding an ice cream cone, kept turning back to look at the puppy behind him, just like a casual tourist, full of curiosity and passion about everything around him.
"If I have more time, I'd like to go to the seashore/beach at this season. The sunset at the beach is especially healing." Summer is almost over. YY did not get to go to the beach he wanted to go. The plan of diving that he wanted to complete the most fell through. "I wanted to get a diving permit in the summers to come" said YY. His eyes full of expectation.

Taking it slow
YY has always maintained his composure and stability during work over the years. The schedule of one project per year is not considered tight, but every project took a long time to shoot; YY spent more than half of the year in the groups every year. The longest time was when he was shooting "Glory of Special Force"; he stayed in the group for 10 month entirely.
During the shooting period, YY rarely came out to participate in any activities. To him, devoting himself in one thing, concentrating on immersing himself in his character, is very important. Life in the groups brought him tremendous sense of security.
Actors always have to communicate and interact with many people during work. As an I (Introvert?) person, in between his busy work schedule, Yang Yang tried to reserve more quiet, alone time for himself. "After I completed my work (actively/efficiently/with a positive and responsible attitude), I desire more to return to the time that belongs to myself. I might think about things independently, or just empty my mind and relax, or play some games... all these would make it easier for me to recharge."
After finishing each project, YY always gave himself a period of time for adjustment. "After cranking up, I'd go on a trip or resting at home for a period of time, giving myself space to relax and spending more time with my family. So, when I work, seldom did I have the feeling of my emotion and energy being exhausted completely."
YY separates work and life clearly; he has the capability to focus on the presence. Whether it was shooting or other types of work, he would always focus his energy to go his best. When switch to his personal life mode, he could also enjoy the life that belongs to himself with his body and mind. During his leisure time when there was no work, YY's life was exercise, playing game, and keeping his parents company watching TV or chatting. This is not much different from other young man living in the city. He also revealed that his recent hobby is "learning to maintain body health."
"Work and life are parts that make up who I am. These two are actually fused with each other. I think the most important is to find the balance point within oneself. No matter what you do, you must follow your heart."
The frequency of YY accepting a drama offer was not very high, but almost every role left deep impression in the audience's heart. To him, the deciding factor of accepting an offer is to see if the story and character are appealing to himself. "When I open the script for the first time, I would put myself into the role, expect the story he is going to experience... whether I'd feel like watching the next episode after seeing the previous one, whether the story leads to many complicated emotions, whether I'd be touched by the people in the story... these are definitely the most important." YY, who graduated from PLA, always look forward to military roles with more passion. "Pilot is a role I've always wanted to play. If there is a opportunity, I'd really like to challenge myself."
YY used "feeling comfortable accepting myself (comfortable being himself?)" to describe his current condition. "It's not about feeling satisfied or dissatisfied. I definitely have my worries. There are many things that you understand how they work, but to actually achieve that is very difficult. What I can do right now is to continue working hard, keeping my serious attitude, and completing every work with all my heart."
